Lucy has been offered a place at two sanctuaries in the U.S. that take “retired” elephants from zoos and circuses. The largest of these is the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald Tennessee. In our opinion, this is the best option for Lucy, as it provides the maximum amount of space available, and the sanctuary focuses only on elephants. This facility has vast areas for the elephants to roam in social groups with their own species. Please take the time to check out their website.

The second sanctuary which is willing to take Lucy in is the Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) sanctuary in San Andreas, California. Have a look at their “ARC 2000” facilities.
